EU approved the list of organizations awarded with grants in the LGP second call
GIZ's partner organizations have completed the selection process of the second call for project proposals under the European Union's Local Grants Programme (LGP). Following an extensive administrative, technical-financial evaluation process, as well as field visits / online meetings with applicant organizations, EU approved 29 projects to be awarded grants. Civil society organizations and media organizations from the North, Centre, South and ATU Gagauzia development regions, will implement projects in total amount of approx. 622,800 Euro.
The Local Grants Programme aims to empower the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to participate in local decision-making actively and constructively on sustainable development (economic, social, and environmental) and local service delivery in their communities.

Like those from the first call, the winning organizations will benefit from training and exchange of experience and good practices, organized by GIZ and its partners.
Thus, following the two calls within the LPG, 105 local and media projects are financed, in a total amount of 2.6 million Euro. The projects aim to involve citizens and civil society organizations in decision-making processes, monitoring investment projects in the field of water supply and sewerage, waste management, energy efficiency, and increasing the level of information and awareness of related environmental issues and climate change.
The Local Grants Programme is launched on the basis of the Single Support Framework of the European Union (EU), to the Republic of Moldova (2017-2020) under the European Neighbourhood Instrument, through the project "Citizens’ empowerment in the Republic of Moldova" (2019-2021) , funded by the EU and implemented by the German Development Cooperation through GIZ (GIZ Moldova).
